This Fairytale Castle was built in 1864, mostly from Dalkey Granite, a stipulation by the Architect, Samuel Usher Roberts. The Castle was acquired by the Benedictine Nuns shortly after the First World War and remains their last convent in Ireland. It is set into the side of Mount Doughruagh on the shores of lake Pollacppul and the enchanting beat of it’s setting draws many visitors each year.
